Get started in four steps

New to the Coinbase Advanced Trade API? Follow these steps to go from zero to your first live API call.
1

Create an API key

Sign in to Coinbase, navigate to Settings → API, and create a new API key. Save your API key name and private key — you will need both to generate JWT tokens.
2

Authenticate your requests

Use your API key and private key to sign a JWT token. Pass that token in every request as an Authorization: Bearer <JWT> header. See the Authentication guide for full details and code examples.
3

Make your first API call

Send a GET request to https://api.coinbase.com/api/v3/brokerage/accounts to retrieve your account balances and confirm your credentials are working correctly.
